Maureen McGowan, AAS in Nursing, 1986

Maureen McGowan was working as an LPN when she decided she wanted to advance to RN. She credits 51ΑΤΖζ College (then Regents) as offering, β€œthe best opportunity for me to advance my education, earn my degree, and achieve my goal of becoming an RN. The cost and flexibility were a godsend as I could fit my studies around my work schedule.” She graduated in 1986 with an Associate in Applied Science in Nursing and began working in a post-open heart surgery unit. McGowan has been a triage nurse, a disease manager, an ER educator, and a preceptor and mentor for EMT and paramedic students and new hires. She retired in 2019 after a long and fulfilling career.
