Position OverviewÌýÌý
The Department Chair for Computer Technology provides academic and operational leadership to support programs, faculty, and students within the department.Ìý
This role is designed for an experienced faculty leader withÌýexpertiseÌýin online and hybrid instruction, academic operations, and a strong student-centered approach. The Chair works closely with the Associate Dean and School of Technology leadership to oversee faculty engagement, course quality, and program operations.ÌýAs a member of the faculty, this role has teaching responsibilities commensurate with the scale and scope of the size of the department.Ìý
The position combines academicÌýinstruction,Ìýleadership, faculty support, and program coordination to ensure excellence and consistency across Computer Technology offerings.Ìý
KeyÌýResponsibilitiesÌý
Department Leadership andÌýOperationsÌý
- Serve as the primary point of contact and liaison for Computer Technology facultyÌý
- Oversee term-based operations, including course scheduling, faculty assignments, and textbook coordinationÌý
- Support faculty onboarding, training, and communication to ensure instructional quality and consistencyÌý
- Participate in departmental, school-level, and university initiatives, committees, and special projectsÌý
Ìý
Program Quality & Curriculum OversightÌý
- Monitor course quality and coordinate updates and improvements in collaboration with Instructional Design and Development (IDD)Ìý
- Support course development, revisions, and alignment with program outcomes and workforce needsÌýÌý
- Contribute to program review, assessment reporting, and continuous improvement effortsÌýÌýÌýÌý
- Ensure compliance with institutional, state, and accreditation standardsÌý

Faculty Support & Student SuccessÌý
- Guide faculty in delivering high-quality online and hybrid instruction aligned withÌýUniversityÌýstandardsÌýÌý
- Track and analyze key performance indicators, including course evaluations, grading patterns, and student success metricsÌýÌýÌý
- Promote effective teaching practices that support engagement, retention, and academic success among adult learnersÌýÌýÌý

Faculty ResponsibilitiesÌý
- Teaching responsibilities within university-established workload modelÌý
- Maintain a scholarly agenda in alignment with university and college and strategic prioritiesÌý
- Engage department faculty in university and community service activities as appropriateÌý
Required Qualifications:Ìý
- DoctoralÌýdegree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a closely related fieldÌý
- Professional experience in a relevant technical field, with industry certifications preferredÌý
- Minimum of 5 years of higher education teaching experienceÌý
- Progressive administrative experienceÌý
- Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skillsÌý
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independentlyÌý
Preferred Qualifications:Ìý
- Prior leadership or administrative experience in higher educationÌý
- Demonstrated experience in online and/or hybrid instructional environmentsÌý
- Experience with course development, assessment,ÌýandÌýaccreditation processesÌý
- StrongÌýtrack recordÌýof promoting student success using evidence-based decision-making to support the quality improvement of academic programs, curriculum, and faculty.ÌýÌýÌýÌý
- Demonstrated experience with the recruitment,Ìýselection, evaluation, development, and mentoring of facultyÌý
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in curriculum and faculty supportÌý

This positionÌýoperatesÌýin aÌýhybrid environment, requiring a combination of on-siteÌýwork at the St. Petersburg locationÌýand remote operation. The role includes regular virtual collaboration and presence to support faculty, labs, and program operations, occasional travel to Albany, NY, for planning, training, and program-related activities.Ìý
The hiring salary range for this position is $97,500 - $107,000. The hiring salary range above represents the University's good faith estimate at the time of posting.Ìý
