51ÁÔÆæÌýseeksÌýexperienced, student-centered instructors to join our instructionalÌýpool of part-timeÌýcommunications faculty. Applicants should clearlyÌýindicateÌýtheir qualifications to teachÌýboth public speaking and interpersonal communications courses.Ìý

Reporting to the Department Chair for General Education and Social Sciences, part-time faculty are assigned to course sections based on their qualifications, interest, performance, andÌýcourse section availability.ÌýÌý

This is aÌýhybrid (St. Petersburg, FL) andÌýremote online part-time faculty position. Instructional faculty at 51ÁÔÆæ teach online using pre-built course shells with common readings, activities, and assignments across all sections.ÌýHybrid courses in St. Petersburg include some evening hours during the work week.Ìý

Duties and Responsibilities:ÌýThe following duties and responsibilities, but not limited to, are expected:

  • Implementing courses as designed by the University.ÌýÌý
  • Bringing their own knowledge andÌýexpertiseÌýto bear on the subject matter.ÌýÌý
  • EngagingÌýregularlyÌýand substantively with students via email, announcements, and online discussion boards.ÌýÌý
  • ProvidingÌýtimely, high-quality feedback on student work.ÌýÌý
  • Holding regular virtual office hours.ÌýÌý
  • Keeping the department chair apprisedÌýofÌýanyÌýstudent or course issues.ÌýÌý
  • FollowingÌýUniversityÌýpolicies.ÌýÌý
  • Completing University-required training and attending required pre-term meetings.ÌýÌý

  • A master’s degree or PhD in Communications or a master’s degree in a related field with at least 18 graduate credits in communications.ÌýÌý
  • Experience teachingÌýcommunications (including public speaking)Ìýin an asynchronous online environment.ÌýÌý
  • ExperienceÌýwith the Canvas learning management system preferred.ÌýÌý
  • A student-centered teachingÌýapproach.ÌýÌý
  • A commitment to supporting the success of all students, including thoseÌýunderservedÌýby traditional higher education.Ìý

Compensation is provided at a rate ofÌý$1,000 per credit hour per course,Ìýwith low-enrollment courses paid at a directed study rate. The salary range reflects the University’s good faith estimate at the time of posting.
